Cold Water

Goldfish are exceedingly popular cold-water fish, due to their small size, ease of care and general hardiness. If looked after properly, domestic goldfish can live for over ten years. They are often kept in garden ponds, and can usually be fed on flakes alone.
Koi are larger goldfish, specially bred for their extravagant patterns.

Keeping a cold water aquarium involves less work than a tropical tank. Cold water fish usually live longer, require less care and are hardier than their tropical counterparts. While most popular cold water fish are different breeds of goldfish or carp, other species are available.
